As most of you might know, Derek and I met on OKCupid, a dating site. Derek set himself apart through his communication style, his knowledge and use of various song lyrics from my favorite type and decade (90s hip hop and r&b), and through his patience as I slowly entered back into the dating scene. The more we learned about each other, the more parallels we saw in our lives. I am not one to believe in fate, but I do believe in luck. I feel lucky that I met Derek at the exact right time. I will forever be thankful for the friendship and love we have.
